Used Toyota Carina

Toyota launched the Carina in 970 as a compact vehicle. By the time its production ended in 2001, it was offered as a mid-sized sedan. Over time, it was sold as a sportier sibling car of the Corona or as a 4-door version of the Celica. The last Carina series introduced in Europe was the Carina E. The “E” stood for Europe. The Carina was offered as a four-door saloon, a five-door liftback, and an estate. Engines used were 1.6-, 1.8-, and 2.0-liter gasoline engines. Diesel engines include 2.0-liter and a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel. The Carina E had lots of competition in the family car segment but with Toyota’s quality of build, spacious rear cabin, and low depreciation, the car easily overcame the challenge. However, Toyota was slow to respond to developments in car safety. It was not until 1994 that the Carina E got a driver’s airbag. ABS and dual airbags became standard equipment only in 1996. Aside from these, there is really nothing much to criticize. There were three body styles to choose from: a salon, an estate, and a 5-foor liftback. The car had seven trim levels, a selection of four 16V DOHC petrol consuming engines and 1.8-liter petrol renowned for its excellent fuel economy. Styling seems to be derived from a number of vehicles in the class, yet the result is not unattractive. As you get acquainted with the Carina, you come to realize that Toyota really did spend a lot of thought on its thrust towards gaining a valuable foothold in the medium range car market. Carinas did not find favor with driving enthusiasts. The Carina E was no different. However, for people who want a used family transport vehicle that is reliable and well equipped, the Carina should be hugely popular. All engines, except for the diesel, were enthusiastic performers. The 1.8-liter is especially worth having with its surprisingly fast acceleration (0-60mph in 11.7 seconds) and its fuel economy of 35mpg in city driving and 45 to 50mpg at motorway speeds. Most Carina E versions you will come across would feature electric front windows, power steering, sunroof, a rev counter, an audio system, and more. It actually depends on your choice of trim level – X, XL, GL, GS, or CD. It does not matter really what trim you choose, as all trims carried more creature comforts than most of is competitors. As a used Toyota car, there is no way you can go wrong with the Carina. It is roomy, conformable, and most important durable. What more could you ask for?
